I am Roshini, founder of The Checkmate Club and a FIDE Instructor licensed to coach players rated between 1701 and 2200.
Chess has been an important part of my life from a young age. I am a National Gold Medalist at the SGFI Under-19 and represented India at the Asian Junior Championships in 2008.
One of the most meaningful chapters of my chess journey was receiving a four-year full scholarship to an elite chess school known for nurturing strong players. There, I trained alongside many talented young players and developed the discipline, preparation, patience, resilience and competitive mindset that continue to shape my coaching today.
Beyond chess, I am also a registered architect with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. To better support my students, I have studied the psychology of learning, educational psychology, early childhood psychology, memory and cognition, emotional intelligence, and life coaching.
I founded The Checkmate Club to combine high-quality chess instruction with a thoughtful understanding of how people learn. My goal is to provide personalized coaching that supports each student’s individual journey, whether they are learning the basics or preparing for higher-level competition.
Today, The Checkmate Club welcomes students from around the world through private and group coaching. I feel grateful to be part of their chess journeys and to help them build confidence, focus, strong thinking skills, and a lasting love for the game.
